I have the Amazon Kindle 4th generation and I also have the app which to be honest I don't like as much as the Kindle. My kindle is about 10 years old. I got it as a gift in 2013 but I think it was released in 2011. I love my kindle and the battery life is still great. It lasts for weeks on a single charge. It is an old kindle so it only has a very basic internet wifi connection where I can go to the amazon store and buy and download books which to be honest all I want it for is to be able to download books I would not be able to get locally in a book shop. If I had to choose between paper back books and kindle devices, I would choose the paper back as there is nothing like holding a book and reading it but I do like using the kindle as a different means of reading.
